Analytics dashboards are great at showing you data. They’re not always great at showing you the right data in the way you need it.
If you’ve ever wanted to see how two or three metrics relate to each other without clicking between tabs, you know how tedious that gets.
And if you’ve ever tried to hand off analytics data to a client, a colleague, or an AI tool, you’ve probably hit the wall of the PDF export — a format that looks nice but can’t be sorted, filtered, or used for anything beyond a static read.
MonsterInsights 10.1.0 takes a big step toward solving both of these problems. Here’s what’s new.
What’s New in MonsterInsights 10.1.0
With this new MonsterInsights release, you’re getting:
- A redesigned Overview tab: Colorful overlapping graphs, a new Metrics button, advanced filtering, and a cleaner layout for the stats below the graph.
- CSV and Excel exports: Every report in MonsterInsights now lets you export as PDF, CSV, or Excel.
- An Export Queue: Find and download all your recent exports in one place under Tools » Report Export.
Let’s dig into each one.
A Redesigned Overview That Shows More at a Glance
The Overview tab has always been the first thing you see when you open MonsterInsights reports — a quick snapshot of how your site is performing. With 10.1.0, that snapshot is a lot more useful.
The tabbed navigation you’re used to is still right there at the top: Traffic, Engagement, Referrals, and eCommerce.
What’s changed is the graph itself. Instead of a single line tracking one metric at a time, you now see multiple metrics overlapping on the same chart — each one a different color, so you can spot patterns and relationships between your data points instantly.
You can still hover over any point on the graph to see the exact numbers for that day.
Choose the Metrics That Matter to You
Previously, you used a gear icon to switch which metric appeared in your graph. The new Metrics button is more intuitive.
Click it and you’ll see a full list of available metrics with checkboxes. Turn them on or off to build the view that makes the most sense for your business.
You can choose from metrics like Sessions, Engaged Sessions, Key Event Rate, Total Users, New Users, Returning Users, Engagement Rate, Pageviews per User, Bounce Rate, Purchases, Revenue, and Average Order Value.
Select just the ones you care about and hit Apply Filters to update the chart.
Here’s an example of what it looks like with five metrics displayed at once:
Your Stats at a Glance — Now Below the Graph
Scroll down and you’ll find the rest of your Overview data in an updated layout.
A Key Metrics section gives you a quick channel breakdown showing Organic, Social, Paid Media, Email, Referral, and Direct sessions side by side.
Below that, you’ll see your Marketing Campaigns table — and this one has gotten an upgrade too. It now includes its own tabbed navigation so you can slice the data by Campaign, Source, Medium, Term, or Content without leaving the Overview.
Each view also has a View Full Report link to jump straight into the details.
Depending on your site and what you’re tracking, you may also see sections for Pages, Form Submissions, or Demographics here.
Advanced Filtering
The new Filter button in the top right of the Overview opens a slide-out panel where you can layer multiple filters at once.
Filter by Country, Browser, Device type (Desktop, Mobile, or Tablet), and more. You can stack as many filters as you need using + Add New Filter, then either apply them on the spot or save them for later under Your Saved Filters.
This is especially handy if you regularly want to see how a specific audience segment — say, mobile users in a particular country — is behaving on your site.
The Date Picker and Compare to Previous Are Still Here
Nothing has been taken away. The date picker works exactly as before, with options for Today, Yesterday, Last Week, Last Month, Last 7 days, Last 30 days, Last 90 days, and a custom date range.
The Compare to Previous toggle is still available too.
Turn it on and your previous period appears as dotted lines overlaid on the current period’s solid lines — making it easy to see how your numbers are trending over time.
Export Reports as PDF, CSV, or Excel
This one has been a long time coming.
Before 10.1.0, every report in MonsterInsights had an Export PDF button. PDFs are great for sharing a visual snapshot, but they have real limitations.
You can’t sort the data, run formulas on it, paste it into another tool, or feed it into an AI for deeper analysis. For anyone who needs to do something more with their analytics data, the PDF export was a dead end.
Starting with 10.1.0, every report now has an Export Report button. Click it, and you’ll see three options: PDF, CSV, and Excel.
The CSV and Excel exports open up a lot of possibilities, including the following:
- Share data with clients in a format they can actually work with.
- Import into Google Sheets or Excel to build custom charts and dashboards.
- Feed your data into AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to get quick summaries, spot anomalies, or generate reports.
- Combine MonsterInsights data with other sources for deeper analysis.
- Hand off data to your team without giving everyone access to your WordPress dashboard.
This update applies to every report in MonsterInsights — eCommerce, Traffic, Forms, Campaigns, and more.
Find All Your Exports in One Place
Once you’ve exported a report, you can find it in the new export queue.
Simply navigate to Insights » Tools » Report Export, and you’ll see a table with every export you’ve run, including the report name, date range, format, status, when it was created, and when it expires.
From here, you can download any completed export or clean up old ones. If an export is still processing, hit Refresh to check on its status.
Who Is This Perfect For?
These updates are useful for just about anyone using MonsterInsights, but they’re especially valuable if you’re:
- Agency owners and freelancers who share analytics reports with clients — now you can send a CSV or Excel file they can actually explore, not just a static PDF.
- eCommerce store owners who want a richer at-a-glance view of traffic, engagement, and revenue trends side by side.
- Marketing managers who regularly analyze data in spreadsheets or use AI tools to help interpret trends.
- Content teams who want to compare multiple engagement metrics on a single graph without switching tabs.
- Anyone who filters by segment — mobile vs. desktop, country, browser — and wants to save those filters for regular use.
How to Get Started
If you’re already a MonsterInsights user, just update to version 10.1.0.
The new Overview will be waiting for you when you open Insights » Reports. The updated export options will appear automatically on every report — no additional setup required.
That’s it for this release! I hope you love the new Overview and the expanded export options.
