How to Exclude URL Query Parameters

Easily exclude query parameters from being sent to your Google Analytics property with MonsterInsights.

To get started, enable the option at Insights » Settings » Advanced » Exclude URL Query Parameters.

Next, specify what query parameters you would like excluded as a comma separated list. This setting is case sensitive.

Note: Values are limited to alphanumeric characters, underscores, and dashes.

For example: In your Google Analytics reports, you’re seeing a page path of example.com/?fbclid=[randomize_string]

To make it easier to view your reports, you can exclude fbclid from getting tracked by Google Analytics.

To do this, insert fbclid into the Exclude Query Parameters field, as well as any other parameters you may wish to exclude.

Once done, make sure to Save Changes.

Now moving forward, fbclid and any other defined parameters will be removed by MonsterInsights before the page_view event is sent to your Google Analytics property.

That’s it! You’ve learned how to Exclude URL Query Parameters.
