Our Story - Why did we create MonsterInsights?

Let’s face it - when it comes to website decisions, most business owners are just “Winging It”.

In the early days, when my business was smaller, I did too. I used my “best guesses” to determine our content, marketing, and frankly speaking entire web business strategy.

Mainly because I didn’t know what to do with my Google analytics account. I didn’t understand the reports.

Frankly speaking, “Winging it” used to get the job done.

But as my business grew, “Winging it” simply didn't cut it anymore.

I wanted to grow my business with confidence.

I wanted to make informed decisions and scale safely.

So I spent months learning how to properly setup and use Google analytics on my WordPress site. During this process, I realized that properly installing Google Analytics in WordPress required way more than the OLD WAY of just adding a simple script on your site.

Because the OLD WAY didn't give you a full picture.

If you wanted the “full picture” and see important things like:

how people are using your website

what are they clicking on

which products are they buying

who’s referring you the most sales

... and other useful information to grow your business, then you needed to hire a developer!

Because it required setting up advanced things like custom event tracking, proper link attribution, enhanced eCommerce tracking, and a whole lot more.

So I made the investment and hired a developer to send virtually every aspect of website interaction data to Google Analytics.

I was excited because I thought that’s all I needed to do. WRONG!

Sending analytics data to Google is only the FIRST part of a process. Once it’s there, you actually have to figure out how to find it, and then make sense of it (prepare for a lot of mouse clicks).

I scoured the web for tutorials because I was too CHEAP for hiring a consultant who could help me understand everything.

After weeks, I was finally able to figure out how to create proper reports that showed me actionable insights like:

Untapped affiliate partnership opportunities for my blog

Popular authors on my blog whom I should reward

Low-hanging optimization opportunities to boost my conversions

Pages and sections that are needle-movers

What’s working and what’s not in my website design

... and that’s just to name a few!

So I took one of the insights and used it to make a “data-driven decision” and the results were MIND-BLOWING!

I literally couldn’t stop smiling because as a business owner, I felt like I cracked the code. The boost in confidence made me act faster and make moves that helped accelerate my business growth.

In just a few years, my small 6-figure business turned into a 7-figure business and now a strong 8-figure business.

All because I figured out the way to get the stats that matter and use it to make informed decisions.

As time passed, I wanted to take what I learnt and give back to the WordPress community by fixing the biggest WordPress analytics problem once and for all.

Coincidentally Joost de Valk, author of the popular Yoast SEO plugin contacted me to see if I would be interested in acquiring his Google Analytics for WordPress plugin and giving it a new life.

My answer without any hesitation was ... YES!

Because this meant, I could finally use my experience and knowledge to take the pain out of connecting Google Analytics + WordPress and make it EASY for everyone (including my portfolio companies).

I had my team completely revamp the original plugin and create the new version of MonsterInsights, so I can finally have a Google Analytics for WordPress plugin that I wish I had when I was starting my business.

With MonsterInsights Pro, you get it all...

“Easy-Easy” Setup - access to the same configurations that I use on my websites without hiring a developer or touching a single line of code.

Overview Report inside WordPress - so you can see all the important metrics inside a single dashboard (no need to navigate through the complex Google Analytics interface).

Customized Publisher Report - shows you exactly which content gets the most visit, which affiliate links are performing the best, what new partnership opportunities you should consider pursuing, and more.

Cutomized Ecommerce Report - see all your important store metrics in one place such as total revenue, conversion rate, average order value, top products, top conversion sources, and more.

Other Useful Insights from search console report, custom dimensions report, form tracking report, and more.

The MonsterInsights plugin for WordPress is without a doubt the ULTIMATE SHORTCUT to seeing the stats that matter inside your WordPress admin, so you can start making data-driven decisions to grow your business.
