How Google Analytics Demographics work

Now, in case you’re wondering how Google Analytics collects demographics data, then it uses different sources to get the information.

By default, if a user is logged in with their Google account on any device they use to view your website, Google Analytics is able to access their demographic information. This could include their Gmail account, YouTube, Google Chrome browser, Chromebook laptops, or Android mobile.

Other than that, Google Analytics also records demographics using third-party cookies, Android Advertising ID, and iOS Identifiers for Advertisers. If a cookie is present in a user’s browser, Analytics can collect your demographic information.

And when Google Analytics is set to collect advertising information on any Android or iOS app, it also collects data about the age and gender of your visitors.

Google is pretty efficient at making accurate estimations of your user’s demographics. But to make sure that you target the right audience, use long date ranges to view demographics and also ensure you have medium to high website traffic.
